My Week in Photos: Oct. 11 - Oct. 18 ♥

Some gorgeously delicious post-football game waffles with some friends at a local 24/7 restaurant (aka heaven on earth).

Watching Up while tucked into bed - i absolutely adore that movie.

SO happy to see fellow bloggers (even though they're basically celebs now!) making up an entire page in this month's Teen Vogue!

Sudoku > homework

Reinvigorated my intense love for Skins - i'm on season four, episode three now - gotta say, i miss the first generation cast!

As much as i love this time of year, these cold, gloomy days make me want to stay in bed forever!

Spent about four hours in Barnes & Noble with my sister the other day, in attempt to get some work done...well that attempt may not have completely worked but it was really nice to spend some time with mi hermana :)

Double chocolate chip frappuccino plz ;)

Did i mention this is my favorite top ever?  I might actually be in love.  Thank you Forever 21, you're a legend.

Went to Target to find an immense Soap & Glory sale.  S&G are stopping selling their products in Target (sadface :/), so they're entire stock is on clearance!  Fabby makeup bag - originally $16.99, got it for $4.24!  Perfect for my trip to England & France in spring :).  Eye cream - originally $14.29, got it for $3.57!  Check out your local Target ladies :)

Obligatory photo sesh with one of my sisters, on my mom's computer of course.  Look how schmexy we are!

And i wonder why i'm fat....a little surprise from my mom :)

Can't wait for My Chem's new album!  Not sure if it'll top The Black Parade for me, but we'll see!

Some yummy sunnies from the thrift store - just 99 cents, insane!

My parents were out of town for a couple days & gave my sisters and i money for a nice meal together - i of course had to get a caramel apple dipped in three different kinds of chocolate!  So good :)  Spot my favorite top?  (I wear different clothes i promise haha, this was the same day).

Breakfast of champions!  Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch, a bagel with butter, & OJ.  Om nom nom.

Love how this post begins & ends with breakfast food - not intentional!  Haha, breakfast is my life.
Hope you're all having an ah-ma-zing week!  Xoxo.

What's in My Makeup Bag? ♥

Now i'm one of those girls who tends to carry her life around in her bag, but recently i've tried to minimize the amount of quote-unquote "crap" that i carry around with me - to save both my shoulder & my sanity.  Whilst rummaging through my bag and trying to make sense of all the mess, i first & foremost stumbled across my makeup bag and thought it would be a good idea to downsize the amount of junk i tote around in there.

I came to the conclusion that i really didn't need to carry around 50 hairbands & an entire palette of eyeshadows 24/7, so i took out all the unnecessary & excess baggage - resulting in a minimal, yet efficient makeup bag to tote around all the essentials i need on a daily basis :)

What are these essentials you ask?
I guess i'll let you all take a little peek ;)

MakeupBag
The bag itself
This bag actually came free with a subscription to Teen Vogue.  I like to switch up my makeup bag quite a bit, but this is the one i'm currently using!  It's spacious on the inside & easy to find in my handbag.  It's not the most gorgeous thing ever, but i think it's quite nice & is easy to clean!

01. Compact mirror - Very handy to have a mirror (obv!) - for touching up makeup, fixing your hair, etc etc :)

02. Tresemme Travel Size Tres Two Hold Hairspray - Another very handy thing to have for long days at school and running about town.  Tres Two is my go-to/everyday hairspray, but the bottle is absolutely massive & definitely not something you would want to have to carry around!  If you live in the States, Walmart always has a little travel section with sample size products & such, which is where i got this bottle!

03. Eyelash curlers - I don't really like reapplying mascara, so i take my trusty eyelash curlers around in my makeup bag to give my eyelashes a little perk during the usually long, dragging day!  These particular ones are by Maybelline, but any would be fine :)

04. Facial tissues - aka Kleenex!  I have a little thing of tissues in my makeup bag at all times, even if i don't have the sniffles!  I can't tell you how many times i've went to the bathroom in a stall that didn't have toilet paper!  Very useful thing to have in those situations haha.

05. Clinique Stay-Matte Sheer Pressed Powder - I can get quite oily throughout the day, so this is an essential if i want to prevent looking like an oil well!

06. Bobby pins - Pretty self-explanatory :)  My hair is usually a mess, so these definitely come in handy.

07. Lip products - I put the lip products (lippie & lip gloss) i'm using in a particular day into my makeup bag to touch up throughout the course of the day.  These two are my very well-loved Revlon Matte in Pink Pout & Maybelline Color Sensational in Pink Please - two you've all heard me rave about before, which are the two most likely to be floating about in my makeup bag.

---

That's honestly all i carry around!  What do you girls always have to have with you in your makeup bag?
My next post will probably be on the few bits i got from Forever 21 yesterday.  Until then, hope you're having a lovely weekend!  ♥

A few Friday goodies & another award :)

First of all, sorry for this being the second 'haul'-type post in a row =/  I feel like i'm totally bragging!  Do you ladies like these haul posts?
Anyway, I finally went into Lush for the first time in way too long yesterday and my lovely mother so kindly & unexpectedly treated my two two goodies :)

♥ Lush Floating Island Bath Melt - $7.95
♥ 0.41 lbs of Vanilla in the Mist soap - $10.25
♥ Secret Clinical Strength Waterproof deodorant - LOL, i came home from to school to see this lying on my bed... that's kind of embarassing.

♥ I received the June 2010 issue of Teen Vogue in the mail yesterday!  Amanda Seyfried looks absolutely stunning - i think it's impossible to take a somewhat unattractive photo of her!  There's also a really informative story on tanning beds, i'm making my sister read it!  Also in the issue, there was also a little article on Topshop Makeup, with this lovely image on! :)

♥ I also got this really pretty purple dress (which this picture does not give justice to at all!) from Boston Store by the brand Soprano.  I still have to try it on & see if i like it.  To my disappointment, the fabric is 95% rayon and 5% spandex, not incredibly suitable for summer.  I love cotton dresses, but i'll have to see if this'll do!  I'm looking for summer dresses that can be worn without any bottoms like leggings, shorts, jeggings, etc. :) - originally $38, got for $22.80 with discounts

-

I was given the Sweet Blog award by the absolutely lovely Dollface_24!!
Thanks so much hun! :)

Expect reviews from me on the Lush goodies!  Hope you are all having a spectacular weekend, i heard there was sun across the pond today!

The Teen Vogue Handbook.

I got the book, Teen Vogue Handbook: An Insider's Guide to Careers in Fashion, back at Christmastime because i thought it would be really interesting and helpful, since i have such a passion for the fashion industry and hope to be apart of it someday.

I turns out it was really helpful and really revealed what the industry was really like, which despite common belief, is intense, productive, and influential.
In this post i'll provide snapshots to give you all a little taste of the handbook :)

The book is packed with photos (which is definately a plus :), but it's also filled with information, tips, and advice about many aspects of the fashion industry.

The book is stuffed with interviews and articles on some powerful names as well as upcoming stars of the industry.  There is a section of the book for each general part of the fashion industry - Designers, Editors, Stylists, Models, Beauty, Photos (photographers & photography), and in the back there is a glossary of words that industry insiders use as well as list of colleges and schools that are really great for an education in fashion.

Each section of the book starts with a question & answer bit and as you read, it goes into further detail.

Going through a typical day of the people working in the fashion closet of a magazine.

This is one of my favorite pages, a tool kit - it has pictures & a brief explanation of useful things one should have on the job.  This one for instance is for an editor.

Another one of my favorite pages!  I've always wanted to go inside a fashion closet :)

Just had to show a bit of this for all you die-hard Chanel fans...an interview with the man Karl Lagerfeld himself :D

Another cool bit of the Handbook are the Teen Vogue Tips; quotations and advice straight from industry leaders.

The articles and interviews give examples of how people got their foot in the door to this industry and how they came to be where they are today.

A few more bits & pieces:

Overall
I couldn't recommend this enough for anyone who is interested in having a career in the fashion industry.  Like i keep saying, it's soo helpful - it doesn't set up any false hopes, but gives you the reality of the industry, which i believe is crucial for anyone interested in work in it.
Even if you feel you don't really want to work in fashion, but it's a hobby or love of yours, i think it would be an interesting read to see all the work that goes on behind the scenes.

Got Milk?

I won the Teen Vogue It Girls Got Milk Mustache? contest!
To enter the contest, you had to submit your favorite milk recipe, along with a photo of yourself sporting your very own milk mustache and you got the chance to win an exclusive Teen Vogue swag bag :).

I got an email from a very nice lady telling me I won and I was shocked/excited/amazed! I literally danced around my room, I was sooo happy :D. She told me they were shipping the Swag Bag out in the middle of the week, and that I would get it by the end of the week. I got it at the end of the week like she said and I honestly didn't expect to get such a large box and so much cool stuff! For a second, I felt so close to New York City <3.

All the gifts were contained in a cute, floral print LeSportsac bag :)
